Do you think the day will come in UK when Nanny PC orders us not to grow roses?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_...

QUOTE " Religious police in Saudi Arabia are banning the sale of Valentine's Day gifts including red roses, a local newspaper has reported. The Saudi Gazette quoted shop workers as saying that officials had warned them to remove all red items including flowers and wrapping paper...."UNQUOTE

Now, first and foremost, I MEAN NO OFFENCE TO the Islamic Faith. My question is NOT directed at the Islamic Faith.

Moving on TO my question.. and I think you know where I'm going with this ppl...Can a rose be seen as a symbol of a religious faith and when will Nanny PC flip?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht... - "Sikh bracelets, but no Christian rings at school bans pupils from wearing 'purity rings'

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/artic... - "Now a school bans 13-year-old from wearing crucifix .." etc

Do you think the day will come in UK when Nanny PC orders us not to grow roses?
Yeah, yeah and yeah thrice nightly yeah verily etc.

What we have here is a bunch of freedom haters.

If someone wants to wear strange looking clothes, a turban, a tight little mini-skirt, a cross, a prayer written in funny writing, so what?

I just don't give a damn.

I'm a London and we have a multi-cultural society here. We do not all love each other madly to bits, but we are trying our best not to hate each other. Slowly things just get better.

We don't want Sharia Law....blah, etc.
Reply:Change your newspaper. You are in danger of being brainwashed to the point of irrecovery.
Reply:I happen to believe in the Bible and all it says. It predicts that these thing will happen. Really crazy things. I will buy or grow a rose any time I wish. What about my rights as a Christian?
Reply:http://www.iwantareferendum.com/ take a look at this site. lets make a start with removing this farce. as soon as we throw out the EU and their stupid unworkable human rights, we can start to see our country put back to pre new labour days....(NORMAL)
Reply:We will soon be the minority, not the majority.
Reply:In their own third world dark ages country I don`t give a feck what they do.

But if they try to do this in the UK they should be handcuffed, put a plane, flown over their own backward country, and thrown out.
Reply:Of course it will, that is the lefties "raison detre" why are you apologising to the Islamic faith? Is it not a (Saudi) state that follows Islam to the letter that is doing this? Ergo what is your Q? BTW, "nanny" flipped and was sectioned a long time ago, why are you still allowing her to rule your life? Be up front man/woman, stand up for your British culture and heritage, denounce those who seek to Islamitise you or shut your mouth. Be honest, be offensive, you only just have the right to free speech. Your a**e must be sore straddling the fence! I hold you in contempt, not for your views or beliefs but for your waffling, stand up and be counted or found wanting. Your inane ramblings are designed to cause controversy, not to aid a civilised debate.

A rose is not a symbol of religious faith/debate, it is a flower, the pathetic emblem of the Labour party, any religion/debate that focusses upon this has lost all credibility in my view. I have bigger flowers to cultivate than roses. " A rose by any other name"..... cultivate your interest in politics by all means means, but flowers it is not....Sorry but your Q is designed to stir up controversy rather than debate.
Reply:I think the way this country is heading we will soon find it illegal to breathe in case our exhaled breath pollutes other people
Reply:I have no clue who "Nanny PC" is, though it is delightful how the ignorant employ personification.

Seems that you confuse the desire of retailers and goernments to avoid offending with the desire of others to prevent religious persecution.

Some governments -- such as France and Turkey -- prohibit wearing "provocative" religious symbols as a move to force assimilation or prevent extremism and oppression.

While this is annoying, it is not PC. Examples of PC would include: retailers saying "Happy Holidays" to avoid alienating their non-christian clientelle or Aussie Santa's saying Ha Ha isntead of Ho Ho so as to avoid offending any passing whores.

Both may dismay you, but they are not the same practice. For simplicity's sake, you can just call everything you dislike PC. Just like some morons call all people they dislike "fascists," though the label is usually inept.

I bet you could generate some interesting Venn diagrams based on these populations.
