Yappers, Do you have paper roses in your room?

For ordinary workers in Riyadh, it is not everyday that you can

see fresh flowers.

One day, I saw from the "basura" a bunch of paper roses from our neighbor's apartment, that they are throwing away cuz they were moving. Picked them up, cleaned them, and now they decorate my

room. Gives me a semblance of nature in my room.

And this is why I just love paper roses. Definitely zero maintenance

cost, although most of the time, I forget they are there.

Don't you just love paper roses? No? Why not?

Yappers, Do you have paper roses in your room?
No, I don't. Sorry but I can't smell their sweetness if they are all made out of paper. They may be more colorful than the real ones but I like to touch, feel and smell real roses. I can understand if you can't have the genuine flowers over there but I am content with native roses or whatever is on hand. I am not particular as to its kind (American or native) as long as it's real and fresh. Also paper roses remind of a song - as unreal as the love of a woman for a man.

Reply:No paper roses in my room but you'll find dried roses between pages of several books that i have - that when you open them, the aroma that permeates the air reminds you of the scent of mga santong dasalan (statues of saints).

Right outside my window is a rosal (gardenia?) bush with flowers abloom all-year round, their fragrance slightly camouflaging the stench of my cigarette smoke.

Reply:We have paper, silk and plastic roses inside and real roses outside. Every now and then we bring real roses inside.

Anything that is artificial is not the same as something that is real. What sort of scent do paper roses have compared to the real thing.
Reply:I prefer to see all flowers growing outside.
Reply:Err... no. ^_^"

I can get real ones anytime I want anyway.
Reply:None in my room, but I can always bring up the image and scent of roses when desired.

That reminded me, we used to make paper roses in elementary school (teacher's way of keeping us out of trouble). It gave me pleasure to see my creativity bloom (literally). Thank you for triggering the memory, sire.
Reply:Aref i can give you a whole vase of artificial red roses from my spare room. just like your paper roses they are zero maintenance and looks like real flowers

we had 5 lovely plants in our apartment but the Gulf heat had them yellow and wilting. so i rest my case and cherished my fake roses =D
Reply:us too, it's not everyday that we can see fresh flowers, especially fall, and winter,,,

I don't say that I don't like paper flowers, but it's not my type...
Reply:Not exaclty paper... I think they're made of plastic. I have a vase of them on my computer table. ^_^

And yes, I guess a semblance of nature in a place that doesn't have much plants would be a relief for the eye. ^_^
Reply:I don't have one, but I got a "PAPER HOUSE" made by my 5 years old daughter and she give me before I leaved them last summer.
Reply:I had one from Bubukaka
