I hope the following websites will help you. Good luck!
Reply:If you are interested in the natural history of the Sunflower, then check out the book by Charles Heiser, The Sunflower. I've done some research on sunflowers and found this book to be a great introduction to the group and it's written for the 'layman', so no worries about too much jargon. There are SOOOOO many topics to cover regarding sunflowers you could spend a lifetime working on them and just scratch the surface.

Here are some ideas to start with:

hybrid speciation - there's a TON of literature out there on this topic

origins of domestication for the annual sunflower - several recent papers focus on this topic

genetic architecture in the annuals

artificial selection for monocephaly (the single headed cultivar verses the multiheaded wild type).

Economic uses of the two cultivated species (helianthus annuus and helianthus tuberosus)
Reply:uh... the internet(such as)

yahoo, askjeeves, dogpile, google, wikipedia, alltheweb, aol, hotbot, lycos, msn...etc,

just any search engine will do.
Reply:Check out the National Sunflower Association. Sunflowers are not only a good source of seeds, they supply oil.

Heaps of info in that link. Check out the entire site - very informative.

Hope it helps!
